Neck Pain

Neck pain is a common musculoskeletal presentation that can impact an individual’s capacity to participate in daily activities and occupations, as well as leisure activities. The neck is a highly mobile and complex region of the body which is susceptible to injury from poor posture, trauma and degenerative changes.

Neck pain can often arise from one or more of the following musculoskeletal structures:

  • Ligaments
  • Muscles
  • Joints
  • Discs

How can Physiotherapy assist in the management of my neck pain?

  • Assessment of presentation identifying causational factors to your symptoms
  • Treatment can include one or more of the following options: soft tissue release, joint mobilisation, dry needling, low level laser therapy and / or heat/ ice application
  • Individualised home exercise program, Pilates program and / or gym program
  • Pain management strategies
  • Education regarding optimal neck, shoulder, sleeping, sitting and standing posture
  • Education and individual recommendations for ergonomic set-up regarding desk and computer usage

Additionally, at Whittlesea Physiotherapy we stock a range of neck and travel pillows where some can be loaned for trial to assist in identifying a supportive pillow to optimise your sleep.

Contact Whittlesea Physiotherapy and Clinical Pilates on 9716 2250 if you have any enquiries or to schedule an appointment with one of our Physiotherapists.
