How do I book an appointment?

You can book an appointment online through our website’s booking system via the link: https://whittleseaphysiotherapy.bookings.pracsuite.com/guest or call our clinic directly on 03 9716 2250. If you’re a new patient, please arrive 10 minutes early to complete any necessary paperwork.

What should I bring to my first appointment?

Please bring the following:

Your referral letter (if you have one)
Any relevant scans or medical reports
Private health insurance card (if applicable)
Comfortable clothing, especially if you are attending for an injury assessment.

Do I need a referral to see a physiotherapist?

No, a referral is not necessary to see a physiotherapist at our clinic. However, if you are claiming through Medicare, WorkCover, or TAC, a referral from a doctor is required.

Do you see compensable clients?

Yes, we see all compensable clients, including WorkCover, TAC, and Comcare. You can be seen privately without a referral, and we will provide you with a receipt to make a direct claim yourself.
For us to invoice TAC or WorkCover directly, your claim must have been approved (in writing – please provide a copy of your approval), and WorkCover clients must have met the excess.
If you’re unsure, please speak with your case manager at your insurance company or TAC for clarification.

How long are physiotherapy appointments?

Initial appointments: up to 40 minutes
Follow-up appointments*: up to 30 minutes
*Follow-up appointments for Workcover clients: up to 20 minutes
The duration may vary depending on the type of treatment and your condition.

What is Clinical Pilates?

Clinical Pilates is a form of Pilates that focuses on rehabilitation and injury prevention. Our physiotherapists assess your specific needs and guide you through tailored exercises to improve core strength, posture, and flexibility to assist you in reaching your goals.

How do I know if Clinical Pilates is right for me?

Clinical Pilates is suitable for anyone recovering from an injury, managing chronic pain, or looking to improve strength and mobility. After a physiotherapy assessment, we will determine if Clinical Pilates is the best treatment for you and provide an individualised program so it is just right for you.

What is your cancellation and failure to attend policy?

We understand that life happens, and sometimes appointments need to be rescheduled. However, we kindly request 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Failure to attend or late cancellations will incur a $30 fee.

Does your clinic offer Concussion Management?

Yes! We are a certified Complete Concussion Management Clinic (CCMI). Our practitioners, including Luke McMurray and Samantha Heyfron, specialise in concussion care, from acute injury management to rehabilitation and pre-season baseline testing. We provide a thorough assessment and tailored recovery plan. Please advise our friendly admin team if you are booking a concussion appointment.

Do you accept private health insurance?

Yes, we have HICAPS facilities available for on-the-spot claiming with most private health insurers. Please bring your health insurance card (or have the app on your phone) to your appointment for instant claims. If you do not have your card we will provide a receipt for you to make a claim directly with your health fund.

Can I claim through Medicare?

If you have an Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) plan from your GP, you may be eligible for Medicare rebates for up to five physiotherapy sessions per calendar year. Ensure to bring your EPC referral and Medicare card.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept cash, EFTPOS, and credit card payments (Visa, MasterCard). Payment is required at the time of your appointment.

How often will I need to attend physiotherapy?

The frequency of your appointments will depend on your injury or condition. After your initial consultation, your physiotherapist will discuss a tailored treatment plan, including how many sessions you may need to obtain the best outcome.

Do you offer sports injury rehabilitation?

Yes, we have extensive experience with sports injuries and offer comprehensive rehabilitation programs tailored to your sport and goals. We work with athletes at all levels to ensure a safe return to sports. We also provide pre-season musculoskeletal screening so we can address any areas at risk of injury and ensure you are performing at your best.

What is the GLA:D Back Program?

The GLA:D Back Program is a structured group exercise and education program designed for individuals with persistent low back pain. It consists of two free educational sessions and twice-weekly guided exercise classes over 8 weeks.

What is the GLA:D Hip and Knee Program?

The GLA:D Hip and Knee Program is an evidence-based exercise and education program designed for individuals with osteoarthritis in the hip or knee. It combines patient education and supervised exercise sessions, aimed at reducing pain, improving mobility, and enhancing daily function. The program runs for twice-weekly exercise classes over a 6-week period and is proven to help manage symptoms effectively without surgery.

Do you see NDIS participants?

Yes, we see self-managed NDIS participants for both physiotherapy and exercise services. Home visits are also available to the areas of Whittlesea, Humevale and Eden Park, contact our office to discuss areas outside of this zone. Clients are required to pay privately, and we will provide a receipt to submit to NDIS for reimbursement.

Do you provide home visits?

Yes, we offer home visits in the areas of Whittlesea, Humevale, and Eden Park. Areas outside of this region are decided on a case-by-case basis, depending on the client’s needs and the availability of our physiotherapists. Home visit rates apply, and payment is required on the day. Speak to our friendly admin team for more information.

Do you see My Aged Care clients?

Yes, we see My Aged Care clients when their provider has a service agreement in place with us. We offer both in-clinic physiotherapy and exercise services, as well as home visits in Whittlesea, Humevale, and Eden Park. Are your breathwork awareness classes suitable for beginners?

Absolutely. Our breathwork awareness classes are designed to help participants reconnect with their breath, quiet the mind, and manage stress. These are beginner-friendly and serve as a lead-in to our meditation series.
