MAIGHAN CANN

Maighan graduated from La Trobe University in 2019 with a Bachelor of Applied Science and a Master of Physiotherapy Practice. She joined the Whittlesea Physiotherapy team in 2023, bringing valuable experience from her previous roles in private practice, including acute care and post-operative rehabilitation.

With a strong background in netball, Maighan has developed a deep passion for treating sport-related injuries. Her experience in the sport has further fueled her interest in musculoskeletal injuries, as well as post-operative rehabilitation, particularly following hip and knee replacements.

Maighan is a GLA:D (Good Life with Osteoarthritis in Denmark) trained clinician for both Back and Hip and Knee, and she enjoys facilitating the GLA:D Back program. This evidence-based program enables individuals with non-specific low back pain to reduce the toll pain has on one’s life by focusing on improving movement patterns, strengthening muscles, and improving overall function. Her clinical expertise is enhanced by her knowledge of musculoskeletal rehabilitation, and she is committed to helping patients achieve meaningful improvements in their health.

In addition to her GLA:D training, Maighan is highly skilled in equipment-based Clinical Pilates, which she incorporates into injury rehabilitation and management of various conditions. She leads several supervised clinical exercise classes throughout the week, empowering her clients with the knowledge and skills to manage their own recovery.

Maighan utilizes a range of treatment approaches, including manual therapy, dry needling, therapeutic exercises, and clinical Pilates, to tailor treatments to each individual’s needs. Her goal is to help clients achieve meaningful improvements and enjoy a fulfilling, active life. She believes that everyone, regardless of age, deserves to live life to its fullest, and she provides patient-centered care to make this possible.

Outside of work, Maighan enjoys playing netball, spending time with her family and her dog, Storm, supporting the Brisbane Lions, and baking and decorating cakes.
